The charming city of Luang Prabang, once the capital of Laos and still remained to be its spiritual heart, breaths a rich meld of French Indochinese architecture, Theravada Buddhist temples and a magical atmosphere. There are some of the most attractive sites are “Golden City Temple” Wat Xieng Thong, Mount Phou Si, Wat Visounnarath (the former Royal Palace) and Wat Manolom. Just outside the main town are the beautiful Tad Kwang Si Waterfall, Tham Ting Caves, Ban Xang Hai village and the tiered Tad Sae Waterfall. Moreover, make sure that you visit the daily night market, it is the best place to find some really interesting souvenir to take back home.
Climate: Luang Prabang features a tropical wet and dry climate, with the wet season from April until October and the dry season during the remaining five months.

Getting here: Luang Prabang International Airport is just 4km from the city center. There are daily domestic flights (40 minutes) from Vientiane. By road, it is a 9 - 10 hour drive from Vientiane and 6-7 hour drive from Vang Vieng.
BEST TIME TO TRAVEL
November to January is the best time to visit lowland Laos, when daytime temperatures are agreeably warm, evenings are slightly chilly and the countryside is green and lush after the rains. However, at higher elevations temperatures are significantly cooler, sometimes dropping to freezing point. In February, temperatures begin to climb, reaching a peak in April, when the lowlands are baking hot and humid.
GETTING THERE AND AWAY
The easiest and quickest way to get into Laos is to fly. There are three main international airports in Laos, with Vientiane being the main gateway into the country. The three international airports including Wattay International Airport in Vientiane, Luang Prabang International Airport in Luang Prabang and Pakse International Airline in Pakse and another international airport near Savannakhet called savannakhet Airport which serves only one international airline to Suvarnabhumu in Thailand.
